In 1983, as the SLI battery industry was rapidly changing with a reduction of manufacturers, Superior Battery Manufacturing opened its doors for business. With a background of remanufacturing SLI batteries as well as wholesale and retail distributorship, Superior Battery took steps in the opposite direction. Today's youngest battery manufacturer has made a dramatic impact in an industry that has gone from more than 300 S.L.I. American manufacturers to less than 15. This proven growth has been focused on integrity and product quality.
In addition to achieving top industry certifications, Superior is also leading the industry in use of robotics. The company's most significant achievements, however, have been in pioneering revolutionary flooded cell battery technology — specifically, in the creation of PFX®, which delivers extended life, enhanced cyclability and better heat endurance at a competitive cost.
Superior Battery has not only quietly affected the S.L.I. industry. The company is also community friendly, supporting such organizations as the United Way, March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Kentucky Blood Center and other local charities. Superior has also developed strong creditability with the Environmental Protection Agency with an impressive track record in the area.
Superior is a member of Kentucky Association of Manufacturers, Autocare Association and has been involved with programs of the Kentucky World Trade Center, Kentucky chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Commerce. The company was given the Kentucky World Trade Center's Governor's Award for International Trade Excellence in 2010 for its successful international trade strategies.
